Rooted

May 21st - May 31st, 2018

Rooted is a ministry to young adults who have graduated from high school and are leaving home for the first time to enter college, military or vocational training. Our prayer as a church for these young adults is that they be “rooted” in their identity in Christ and grow in their faith. We want to show our support by covering these young people with prayers, words of encouragement, wisdom and love. Rooted provides a way to stay connected to their original church family while learning to connect to their extended faith family in their new location. We seek to identify mentors for each young adult who can be a steady, godly influence in these pivotal years full of momentous decisions and growth. Our prayer above all is to help them navigate these transitions by staying “rooted” in Christ:

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6

Task Force Meeting

December 12th, 2017

The purpose of this meeting is to gather a group of individuals that are passionate about anti-trafficking efforts in Houston to find community in order to serve alongside one another. Each week will be a little different. But the goal is to be together with other people passionate about this work, keep-up on all the opportunities to serve anti-trafficking organizations, debrief our Fourth Friday outreach, to educate ourselves, and most importantly to PRAY.

We'd love to grow this group to be a consistent on-going vibrant group of abolitionists that care deeply about freedom and redemption in our city and take action.

Face to Face: Women in the Presence of Christ (Spring Bible Study)

January 9th - March 6th, 2018

We talk about being in the presence of God. We hear others talk of it, and we wonder what they mean. We long for it even if we don’t know how to define it, even when it is hard to imagine what it might look like in our everyday.

Join Cody for a nine week study where we will look at exactly that. What is it to seek the presence of the God we cannot see? As we read of the women in the gospels, the ones who encountered Jesus face to face—the ones who sat at His feet and clung to His robe and sought Him in the crowd. It seems as though nothing would make us braver or bolder than to be in the physical presence of the Man of Christ. But that very Man has promised us something that He said was even better: “I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you” (John 16:7). Jesus spoke of the Holy Spirit who dwells within everyone who calls upon the saving name of Christ (1 Corinthians 3:16).

He has given us His Spirit. And so I (Cody) am pulled toward the women in the gospels. It is helpful to see in the physical what I believe to be true in the spiritual. I invite you to come and chase these ancient women into the presence of Jesus. We will watch the Man of Christ move among them that we might better recognize His Spirit as He moves among us.

Our team is working hard to secure childcare for this semester. If you are interested in childcare for your little ones, someone from our team will reach out to you.
